In the 1990s, Cyril Durand-Roger and Laurent Lafarge contributed to Music Box: pellicule sur écoute, a French magazine (created by Patrick Garza) devoted to film soundtracks, and intended for film music enthusiasts. In top of writing record reviews, they interviewed film composers and directors.
Wiser for this experience, they quickened the pace, creating in 2011 a French record label devoted exclusively to film and television soundtracks : MUSIC BOX RECORDS. Its goal is to promote film music, producing unreleased soundtracks, in complete versions. Each CD is produced in limited edition, in a spirit of collection.
In 2015, Music Box Records received the IFMCA Award for “Best New Archival Release – Re-Release of an Existing Score” for the release of Bernard Herrmann’s Obsession.
